A Message From Ms. Cheney

A colorful illustration features school supplies surrounding a banner that reads "ATTENDANCE MATTERS".
Attendance Matters: Every Day Counts!

At Baggs Elementary, we believe every school day is an opportunity for students to learn, grow, build friendships, and bring positive energy to our Bobcat family. Just like on the Energy Bus, every rider matters—and our school is stronger when everyone is on board, ready to learn.
Our goal is for students to attend school at least 95% of the time. Regular, on-time attendance helps children build strong routines, keep up with new learning, participate in classroom conversations, and feel connected to their classmates and teachers. Even one missed day can mean missing an important lesson, practice time, group work, or a special classroom experience.
We also ask families to be thoughtful about early checkouts whenever possible. Learning happens all day long—not just in the morning. Afternoon lessons may include reading groups, math instruction, intervention time, hands-on activities, and opportunities for students to apply what they have learned. When students leave early, they miss valuable instruction and can have a harder time feeling caught up the next day.
We understand that illnesses, appointments, and family needs happen. If your child must be absent, please call the office that morning. When your child is absent, you will hear from us—not because anyone is in trouble, but because we care. We miss our Bobcats when they are gone, want to make sure they are okay, and want to partner with families if there are barriers affecting attendance.
Thank you for helping us keep every Bobcat on the bus—present, engaged, and moving forward together!

All Aboard the Baggs Energy Bus

All Aboard the Baggs Energy Bus!

This year, Baggs Elementary is excited to bring the message of The Energy Bus for Kids into our school community. The Energy Bus is all about choosing a positive attitude, treating others with kindness, and working together to make our school a place where everyone feels welcome, safe, and ready to learn.
Throughout the year, students will hear, practice, and celebrate these five Energy Bus Rules for Schools:

Create a Positive Vision
We believe in ourselves, set goals, and  work toward a great future.

Fuel Your Ride with Positive Energy
We choose a positive attitude and bring our best energy to school each day.

Drive with Purpose
We make good choices, work hard, and remember that what we do matters.

Invite People on Your Bus and Share the Ride
We include others, build friendships, and make sure no one feels left out.

Love Your Passengers
We show kindness, respect, encouragement, and care for one another.

We hope these ideas become more than school rules—they are habits that can help children at home, at school, and wherever life takes them. If your family would like a copy of The Energy Bus for Kids to read together and join us on the ride, please let us know. We would love to share the journey with you!

Bobcat Den

What Is Bobcat Den?

Bobcat Den is a time set aside twice each month for students to build relationships, feel connected, and strengthen our school community. Each student belongs to a small Den led by a staff member, where they can connect with students and adults from across our school.
During Den time, students may participate in team-building activities, schoolwide celebrations, conversations about kindness and belonging, and activities that help build positive energy in our building. It is a place for students to be known, encouraged, and reminded that they are an important part of the Baggs Elementary Bobcat family.
The purpose of Bobcat Den is simple: to make sure every child has a place where they belong and adults and peers who know them well. We want students to leave Den feeling encouraged, connected, and ready to carry that positive Bobcat energy with them throughout all their days!
